Affordable & vibrant spaces for multi-disciplinary arts sandbox use to be expected at Kampong Java in 2025
The National Arts Council (NAC) and the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) have awarded a Price and Quality (PQ) tender for a row of five restored heritage properties at 52 to 56 Kampong Java Road (Kampong Java) for multi-disciplinary arts sandbox use to 19SixtyFive Pte Ltd, an experienced arts and cultural organisation within the arts ecosystem.

Singapore Art Week Returns With New Collaborations And Programmes That Will Ignite Your Senses
As Singapore’s pinnacle visual arts season, Singapore Art Week (SAW) represents the vibrant and diverse visual arts ecosystem. The ten-day event will see more than 100 events by the local and international visual arts community. Audiences can look forward to a dynamic line-up of programmes and arts experiences at our museums, galleries, independent art spaces and public spaces, and participate in enriching discussions, talks, walks and tours across the island and online. SAW, a celebration of Singapore’s visual arts landscape, is an annual event organised by NAC.

Six arts practitioners conferred Singapore’s top arts accolade at the Cultural Medallion and Young Artist Award Ceremony
Six artists were conferred the Cultural Medallion and Young Artist Award (CMYAA) at National Gallery Singapore today, for their outstanding contributions to Singapore’s arts sector. Cultural Medallion recipients Ghanavenothan Retnam and Siew Hock Meng, and Young Artist Award recipients Alan Choo Su Ho, Evan Low Jun Feng, Tan Si En, and Zhang Fuming have achieved excellence in their respective fields. The recipients have also made significant strides in creating works that resonate with audiences in contemporary Singapore, such as through leading multi-disciplinary collaborations, and representing Singapore in the international arts scene.

Patron of the Arts Awards 2024: Strong patronage results in $50.2 million in contributions received and 506 patrons recognised
The National Arts Council (NAC) celebrates 506 patrons at this year's Patron of the Arts Awards (POAA), recognising their significant contributions made between 1 January and 31 December 2023. This is the largest number of patrons honoured since the awards' inception in 1983. Comprising 389 individuals and 117 organisations, $50.2 million has been channelled to further Singapore's arts development, the highest over the past three years for contributions received in 2023. The awards ceremony was officiated by Guest-of-Honour Mr Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth & Second Minister for Law at the Pan Pacific Orchard Hotel.

Forging New Ground in the Arts 13 Arts Scholarships Awarded Today
Thirteen outstanding individuals received the Arts Scholarships today to further their studies and push the boundaries in Singapore’s arts scene. These Scholarships cover undergraduate and post-graduate studies and were awarded to recipients who lead in new art disciplines and engage new audiences, leverage the transformative power of the arts in non-arts fields and pursue artistic, cross-cultural excellence in the arts.

Residents to Experience More Arts Performances in the Heartlands
From August 2024, residents can look forward to arts performances, workshops and activities across Singapore. Over the next two years, ArtsEverywhere@CDC, a national effort by the National Arts Council (NAC), People’s Association (PA) and the five Community Development Councils (CDC), will bring a regular pipeline of arts experiences at scale, to communities and heartlands, making it more accessible for residents of all ages to enjoy and engage with the arts together, in the vicinity of their homes. There will be large-scale monthly performances at two anchor venues in each district, including fringe arts and culture activities for all to participate in. More than 50,000 residents are estimated to experience these art performances.
