Ng Eng Teng (b. 1934 - d. 2001) was an acclaimed Singaporean sculptor who is known for his pioneering use of ciment fondu and his figurative sculptures, many of which are found in popular public locations around Singapore, such as Orchard Road and the Civic District. He was nicknamed 'The Grandfather of Singapore Sculpture'. A recurring motif in his figurative sculptures is that of a mother and child. His artworks similarly deal with humanistic themes and ideals. Ng studied painting under first-generation masters such as Georgette Chen and Liu Kang before furthering his studies in ceramics in England.
For his significant achievements and contributions to the arts, Ng won the Cultural Medallion award in visual arts in 1981. From the late 90's to early 00's, Ng generously donated over 1000 of his artworks to the National University of Singapore Museum, which subsequently opened The Ng Eng Teng Gallery to showcase the artworks from his expansive oeuvre.
