The Migration: Arts Residency

Between Systems: In Practice

This exhibition marks the first edition of The Migration: Arts Residency, featuring veteran artists Kumari Nahappan, Valerie Ng, and Jeannie Ho. Between Systems: In Practice is a presentation of works that have culminated from two months of personal artistic explorations with the digital and close conversations with Jake Tan and Ernest Wu, technology and creative leads of SERIAL CO_. During the residency, the artists-in-residence have experimented with various softwares like visual programming, diffusion-based generative AI, 3D visualisation techniques, as well as incorporating computational logic into the process of art-making. Rather than attributing to technologies as constantly emerging, this exhibition opens up a discourse on encountering the digital as embedded in the present, as well as investigating its role within the system and practice of art making.

The Migration: Arts Residency is a digital arts residency designed to foster the exchange and expansion of knowledge on experimenting, interrogating and thinking through and with the digital. This residency includes workshops, a panel discussion, and a culminating hybrid exhibition where artists will present their explorations, inquiries, and contemplations on the topic. This residency is organised by SERIAL CO_, and supported by stART Fund and United Overseas Bank (UOB).
