THE DESERT, THE GLACIER AND THE SUPERSTRUCTURE
Creating common ground in the face of climate challenges: 10 years of artistic practice between arid deserts and major cities worldwide.
As Singapore now represents a crucial setting for the exploration of art, collective intelligence, and environmental reflection, artist Séverin Guelpa inaugurates, at the invitation of TB80, his latest book that presents 10 years of artistic practice worldwide, spanning collective experiences and the exploration of extreme territories. A captivating odyssey unfolds as a poignant narrative that resonates deeply with Singapore's current challenges in the face of climate change.
This book by Swiss artist Séverin Guelpa showcases a decade of innovative artistic engagement across multiple continents. Structured around 3 to 4-week immersions and exhibitions, the artistic manifesto MATZA, founded in 2014, transcends borders, exploring extreme and urban territories worldwide. Based on the belief that artists are crucial actors in understanding contemporary challenges, MATZA addresses both environmental and social-political issues by stimulating the idea of collective intelligence built among artists, scientists, and local communities.
