Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nothing Gold Can Stay by Muhammad Izdi is an interactive map that explores an alternative history of Tampines. This interactive map comprises “what if” stories that invite us to imagine a version of Tampines that was built around the legendary Golden Palace. Similar to how Our Tampines Hub (OTH) is now, the Golden Palace was a popular leisure haunt in Tampines (c. 1970s) which Singaporeans visited for food, drinks, music, events and sports activities. Most of these stories derived from engagement and conversations with the community on the concept of home; sharing stories, memories and aspirations of what Tampines could or would be. Such an imagined map can help to look into the past and ponder the present with fresh eyes.
