New Eden: Science Fiction Mythologies Transformed
New Eden: Science Fiction Mythologies Transformed presents new perspectives on science fiction, uncovering the connections between Asian philosophy, mythologies and science fiction, all brought to light through the work of twenty-four Asian women artists and collectives. Featuring artworks, historical artefacts and films from Asia and the West, the exhibition adopts Western science fiction paradigms – such as parallel worlds, interdimensional travel, other-worldly utopias and transcendence – as a starting point, exploring the genre’s possible roots in Asian philosophy and spirituality. Rarely is science fiction approached from the perspective of Asia and through the work of women. New Eden: Science Fiction Mythologies Transformed celebrates the dream worlds, future visions and fantastical realities of women artists and alternative voices and calls for a more inclusive future.
Curated by ArtScience Museum this exhibition is part of Marina Bay Sands' festival Where Art Takes Shape.
