Experiments in Overexposure
During Genevieve Leong's residency at dblspce, she will conduct material, object and gestural experiments related to overexposure, dissipation, and disappearance. Things will be sunned out to dry; objects might be soaked, bleached or warped; texts are left to fade. Often working with notions of participation from the public, she intends to further develop and test different ways that external and unplanned interaction can be woven into her artistic process, and how that can extend the unpredictability of the work that she produces. The public will be invited to contribute gestures within the space, altering things in favour of new discoveries and transformations. The site becomes an ever-changing collaborative space, and accumulates a collection of accidental or designed experiences ready to be plugged and played into future installations.
