Chronic Compulsions: Selected Works from Art Addicts Anonymous

Art Addicts Anonymous began in 2014 as an informal gathering of like-minded people sharing their art world experiences. It has since grown into an exceptional group with over 30 collections of Southeast Asian and international works of art. Brought together for the first time to mark the 10th anniversary of its formation, the exhibition Chronic Compulsions features modern and contemporary works from the respective collections of Art Addicts Anonymous. Each work carries a personal connection for its collector. Collectively, they are a testament of the timeless nature of art, and its capacity to transform an addiction into a purposeful undertaking. The exhibition, which is a collaboration between The Private Museum, art collectors, curators and art professionals, seeks to inject vibrancy into the burgeoning Singapore art scene by fostering dialogues and new perspectives.

Curators: Low Sze Wee, Michelle, and Michael Lee.

Acknowledging Intuition (AI) stems from a creative brief produced by a generative AI (ChatGPT) from the prompt "an exhibition re-evaluating the intersection of text and image against the growing pervasiveness of text-to-image generative AI". It asks the question, "What does it take to be an artist?"
