Altered States: Painting Myanmar in a Time of Transition

Altered States: Painting Myanmar in a Time of Transition brings together art, technology and culture through Burmese paintings on loan to the SMU Art Collection. Hailing from the largest collection of contemporary Burmese art, Thukhuma Collection, assembled by a specialist in Burmese politics, Ian Holliday, these paintings largely date from the transitional decade of the 2010s and present multiple artistic perspectives on a society in reform. Using augmented reality art (AR.T), The MeshMinds Foundation brings three selected paintings to life, innovating new ways to immerse in the Burmese culture.

Head over to artcollections.smu.edu.sg to find out more about the ongoing public programmes, which include tours, talks, and discussions as well as a film programme curated by Asian Film Archive.
