Listening to the Ink <聴墨>

Chinese traditional calligraphy is a unique form of Visual Arts. The art pieces are created by Teo Lee Lang’s life experiences through her expression of skills or creation. The artist will eagerly like to share her inspiration and enthusiasm in Chinese writing and culture via brush, ink and papers and how these three combinations have been inspiring people around the world for centuries.

The artist will hold an exhibition consisting of 20 artworks. The exhibition and workshops create an opportunity for all age groups to have a better understanding on Chinese calligraphy and its importance in shaping the world today.

As Chinese New Year is around the corner during the exhibition period, there will be two workshops.

- Introduction to Spring Festival Couplets
- How to appreciate Spring Festival Couplets?
- Where to start and how to create Spring Festival Couplets?
- Hands on experience writing on papers and participants can bring home
their own writing.
- Artist’s demonstration of Chinese calligraphy brush holding techniques and how to create your own Spring Festival Couplets.

TAPESTRY features four murals by four urban artists (Zul Othman, Adeline Tan, Wu Yanrong and collective Ink & Clog) working with residents at the prominent South Plaza of Our Tampines Hub, under the Built by and for the Residents series.
