If Forests Talk is a programme that looks at the tropical rainforest through the lens of artists. Nature, greenery and rainforests within Singapore are often seen through the logics of consumption, to be used for botanical, recreational and educational purposes. The project seeks to paint the tropical rainforests in a different light, through a series of new works that reflect upon the artists’ existing artworks, wherein the rainforest had featured prominently. Taking the form of videos and audio pieces, the artists themselves recount their past works through which the rainforest re-emerges as the site for tradition, knowledge, temporary communities and choreography.
