Curated by Chan + Hori Contemporary in partnership with Funan, Creative Intersections: In the Year of the Tiger presents newfound collaborations between artists and brands across products and services.
Creative Intersections will be rooted in a specially-commissioned fictional tiger narrative, crafted by a local writer. The mall-wide activation delves into Singapore’s connection with tigers - the creatures inscribed in our history and whispered about in mythology and folklore.
With each brand pairing, aspects of conservation, science, habitats and pop culture will inform the artists’ visions. Bringing artists and brands together to engage both art lovers and adventurous shoppers, visitors will be able to effortlessly access art and observe its unique relationship with diverse products and services. This month-long, art-meets-retail programme emphasises Funan’s role as a creative intersection in the Civic District; bringing art into the areas of fashion, food, lifestyle and more.

Titled Shining Wizard, a limited edition figurine from independent toymaker Daniel Yu debuts at The Collector Base for Singapore Art Week 2022. Step into the squared circle with the invincible Shining Wizard! A death-defying high-flyer and skilled technical grappler, his name is revered throughout wrestling territories around the globe. Donning the sacred Tiger Mask, this character is imbued with the spirit of the ferocious beast. As the ultimate warrior, Shining Wizard leaps off the top turn buckle, onto his next formidable opponent!
In an additional collaboration with BERNINA (#03-0K3), buyers of the Shining Wizard can participate in workshops to customise a cape or drawstring sling pouch for their figurine - with special bundle rates available.

Designed by Adeline Kueh and Hazel Lim (X O X) in collaboration with BERNINA, “wild things” is a collection of statement accessories such as necklaces, pockets for utility bags and tags or tails that usher in the year of the tiger with big cat prints. Each limited edition accessory features a detachable and customisable component, and are reflections on talismanic and protective elements. Sympathetic magic is prevalent in this part of the world, as is the trading of animal parts. This project brings such topics into conversation, without needing to harm any animals.
Participants can select their desired workshop, and explore the powerful functions of Bernina sewing machines.
