The National Arts Council invites artistic proposals from artists and/or curators to present a contemporary visual art exhibition (Singapore Pavilion) at the 54th Venice Biennale - International Art Exhibition 2011, which takes place from 4 June to 27 November 2011.The Venice Biennale is the oldest and arguably the most important contemporary visual art event in the world. This prestigious event has been attracting a large gathering of international arts professionals, media and visitors to Venice. NAC’s participation in the Venice Biennale is a key thrust in its continuing effort to promote and develop Singapore’s visual arts and arts practitioners internationally. Applications are open for SPROUTS 2010, a new works platform for budding choreographers, which will be held from 7 August to 18 September 2010. This will be the second edition of SPROUTS presented by the National Arts Council together with Frontier Danceland. Application forms and details can be found here. The closing date for applications is 30 June 2010, 5pm. |

In partnership with the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games, Noise Singapore will be showcasing local talents around the city from 14 to 26 August 2010. The National Arts Council (NAC) is inviting artists and curators to submit proposals for the Singapore Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition in 2011. The 54th Venice Biennale, slated to take place from 4 June to 27 November next year, is directed by art historian, curator and critic Bice Curiger. This will be Singapore’s sixth consecutive participation at the biennale. The Venice Biennale is the oldest contemporary visual arts event in the world and widely regarded as the most prestigious. It has been attracting large numbers of arts and media professionals as well as tourists from around the globe since its inception in 1895. Aspiring young musicians pursuing excellence in Indian classical music can look forward to hone their craft and artistry through new masterclasses conducted by world renowned music maestros this year. To implement this new initiative, the National Indian Music Competition (NIMC) will now be held every three years, with the 7th edition of NIMC to take place in June 2011.
