Concerts in the Park

The NAC-ExxonMobil Concert in the Park is sponsored by ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, organised by National Arts Council and supported by National Parks Board.

The NAC-ExxonMobil Concert in the Park series was launched in 1996 in the parks with the aim of bringing the arts to new audiences and exposing them to various art forms through a series of quality concerts held at accessible parks all over the island.

In its latest instalment on 11 November, it brought together families on a Sunday afternoon at Bishan Ang Mo Kio Park to enjoy performances by local artists and to take part in a range of fun, interactive activities for all ages.

Families brought their picnic mats, food and pets over to the park to unwind with performances kick started by the children of Woodlands Primary School Choir. Setting the heartbeat of the concert was Drums of Singapore & Beyond, a performance showcasing different drums and rhythms of the different cultures in Singapore, that got the crowd joining in and grooving together.

The multi-talented Jessica Soo and Keong greeted the crowd with an acoustic set performing a couple of familiar hits, and got the crowd singing along to the melodious tunes. At the side of the stage, fun paper plane making, face-painting activities and a crafting station got residents young and old queuing to learn how to make rosettes using pandan leaves, fold and design their own paper planes and eventually competing on stage for the furthest flying plane.

The Concert ended on a high note with the highlight of the day - the Zumba dance, facilitated by O2 Studio. The various Zumba dances  got the young and old on their feet, dancing to catchy and popular tunes with easy to follow dance steps.  The day ended with the highly-anticipated “Gangnam Style” Zumba Dance, leaving everyone with an energised spirit for the rest of the evening.
